Hi there,
Just recently moved and decided to upgrade my set up .
On a tight budget I've bought last years Samsung ue65ks9000 tv to replace my optoma projector, I was lucky enough to get kef eggs on the cheap the e305 with subwoofer and a Yamaha rxv 683 . As a second subwoofer I'm thinking to use my old Tannoy woofer and for ceiling speakers to avoid spending anymore was thinking to somehow use my old tannoy fx satellite speakers to get Atmos Will this make an improvement or am I better of keeping to a 5.1 set up ?

This is just my opinion, but generally speaking you ideally want your two subs to spec out the same or very similar...I say build the best 5.1 system you can within your budget, and add atmos or a second sub when funds allow to do it right.

Since you already have the Tannoy FX speakers, you might as well go for it. Use the Kef for the normal 5.1 arrangement. Add the Tannoy as back speakers to make it 7.1 and Atmos speakers for 7.1.2. If your room is on the smaller side, this will definitely help create a complete sound envelope for movies with an Atmos soundtrack.

Neither of the Kef or Tannoy bass module are a true subwoofer. But again, since you have them, you might as well use them.
