HELP WITH MY DAC!!!

Worked flawlessly on Sat nite and last night during the Walking Dead all I got was this horrid noise. Checked all connections. WTF!?!?!?

Why do you need a DAC?

Just use the DAC in your AVR or pre-pro.

Nope. Have barely used it. Power and connection are fine and proper. Made the same noise when it was improperly hooked up initially a few months ago. Thought she was a goner. I fixed the set up Sat night. Worked GREAT. Last night ... BAM .... NOISE. The same EXACT noise as when it was improperly hooked up. I refuse to believe that it just happened to crap out the day AFTER I got it to start working. If that's the case, then I should be a lottery winner come tomorrow.

A bit more details about your system could help us help you. Im willing to bet that your dac isn't same as my dac

@BoredSysAdmin -- Essentially, I'm coming out of my TV that has 2 HDMI's going in.

I have the toslink hooked essentially to a black box converter with red/white RCA's going to the AUX input

My system is an older analog Red/White Aux input Panasonic surround sound system. It worked beautifully Saturday.

Is it my audio output settings on the TV? This is just so frustrating.

Mike F, so from something to tv using hdmi, then toslink to "black box" then analog to your Panasonic system.
The problem may be with your black box. Most TVs have analog audio output. Try that

Valid point - I don't WANT analog, though. I hope it's the DAC. Bought a new one today

Simple .... I have ONLY toslink out from TV and RCA in on my system.

What's an AVR? or pre pro? If you mean AV Rcvr or otherwise; moot point

Toslink out to RCA in. TV to an analog CD player home system with analog surround. Inexplicable horrific noise on the Aux input selection. Have swapped cables out too. Same deal

Most of those Toslink to analog converts will not do dolby digital or dts surround formats. Make sure your tv is only outputting stereo.

I went from a black box with dual HDMI to a red/white/yellow silver box once. All I got was a grey box.
