Hi, I looked around the forum for posts relating to my issue but no luck so far so I hope this is the right place to ask about Multi room/ zone systems.

I'm installing a 3 or 4 zone home audio system which so far consists of 8 Niles ceiling speakers (8ohm nominal 6 ohm minimum) and 4 niles rotary volume controls ( happy to not use these if there's a better option). What I'm trying to figure out is what is the simplest and least expensive receiver / amp arrangement that will meet my needs.

I think it helps to know that i DON'T need a surround theater system. That said, my ideal set up is a network source at least capable of streaming music from sirius or pandora etc ( don't do cds, records or analog radio) and an amp to drive up to 8 speakers (3-4 zones). Some kind of mobile phone interface would be nice but not necessary - but who doesn't like the idea of adjusting volume and changing tracks from the pool deck with a margarita in hand?

Is there a simple way to power the system without getting more equipment and options than I need? Maybe a multi zone amp coupled with some sort of basic internet source? Or maybe a network receiver with enough power to drive the speakers through a impedance balanced speaker selector? Can a 5 9 or 11 channel home theater system be used to power this system?

Appreciate any help on this.

Thanks!

As Bored says, a receiver is the wrong device for your application. You need a distribution amp.
