Hello everyone,

I'm building my 7.1 Home Theater and was looking for your feedback regarding front floorstanding speakers.
The room is aprox 17 ft x 17 ft.
I'm no audiophile, but like to have a pretty decent system.
Would watch movies and listen to music (Pop, Rock, Thrash) half and half.

I'm on a tight budget and wanted to take advantage of Fry's sale, buying 4 Polk R300 at $50 each, and use them as surround.

I've done some research and found these contenders (haven't listened to them yet):
- Polk Monitor 50
- JBL Venue Stadium
- Yamaha NS-777

What's your feedback about them? Suggestions? Comments?
Have you had a chance to compare them?
Can you think of any others in the $200 neighborhood?

Thanks a lot for your help!

I have only listened to the Polks and Yammys ...

if they were the same price, I'd get the yammys, good sound, great finish.

Fry's also has these on sale to match the R300's.

The Monitor 50's are $199 each. Before I did that I would purchase these. IMO

Thank you, guys.
I listened to JBL, the Polk R300, Monitor 50 and 60, and did not quite like them.
I'm assuming the Yamaha won't be too different.

The Polk Monitor 70 and RTi 8 were more pleasing.

Where do the AV123 fall (give or take)?

From what others say, they are above par for their price, in looks and performance. I second the AV123 Onix speakers recommendation.:)

I would chose the Onix over any of the speakers mentioned on this thread.:D

If you are asking me, they were far from sounding realistically.
No bass presence either.
