Hello,
I'm almost embarassed to bring this question up, but I've got to figure out what's going on with my speakers. I have a denon 4306 with two zones hooked up. Recently, each set of speakers in zone 2 did something strange, one side is significantly louder than the other. I'm not sure if one of my kids got ahold of the remote and messed it up or what. I tried adjusting volumes /balance in zone two but not working. Any thoughts as to what's going on? It's been working great for 5 years until last week.

thanks for any recommendations etc.

Alright, a couple basic questions and things to try -

Questions:
How many speakers are you powering through Zone 2?
Are you going through any amplification or powering directly from the receiver?
Which terminals are they hooked up to? - I'm assuming L and R surround speaker (B) ports, please confirm
How do you connect to your speakers and receiver? Bananna plugs or direct insertion into terminals

Things to try:
Check connections - remove and reinsert wires if bare into receiver, ensure wires haven't pulled loose in bananna plugs if those are used

Swap the connections for these speakers to the main zone front R\L terminals, ensure the channel levels for both are set the same, then play a test tune or tone to compare volume between the speakers. If the speakers now sound the same, it's a settings or receiver hardware issue.

Also try moving your main zone front R\L speaker connections to the zone 2 connections and see if they exhibit the same discrepancy. If so, you've confirmed it's a settings / receiver issue.

Try those things out and let us know. For reference, your manual can be found here http://usa.denon.com/DocumentMaster/US/AVR4306_DFU.pdf

Thanks Actran, I'll try that stuff this week and see what happens. Appreciate the guidance- sea

FYI, I'm powering 4 speakers through zone 2. Speakers are connected to speaker control/OHM control box. System is powered by Denon 4306 reciever, no other amplification.

Ah. I see. Running your zone 2 through a third device makes it even more important to try and hook your mains directly to the receiver zone 2 outs (i.e. skipping the speaker control device). That's now the first thing I would try with the understanding that you're going through another "device".

Even something as simple as a volume control pass through can go bad (though they are pretty reliable).

If your mains sound equal when hooked directly to the zone 2 outs, then we get to start working through the chain to your other speakers (connections, volume control, speakers themselves).
