Help with component vs hdmi and rec

I am about to upgrade some of my system. I am getting a sony kds03000 55" tv. I currently have a Denon 2106, and a ps3 and xbox360 hddvd. My question is. Supposedly the sony tv will accept 1080p over component. What would be the advantage of upgrading to HDMI. If I have no complaints with my current rec. I use a moxi box dvr that has no HDMI. Will there be that much of a diff. Also I looked at blue jeans cable for some component cable and I thought they were exp. 57 for 6 feet, the bundled version. Is that correct? If I upgrade the rec I will prob go with Onkyo this time 805, if HDMI is a must.

This is in the living room where we mostly watch cable tv(dvr no HDMi). Would I loose something running three hdmi into tv and coax out to Rec. Just some questions that have me thinking about my dec. Other possiblility would be to get the 02000 tv and the rec if hdmi is a must.
thanks

Most sources that have 1080p output don't support that resolution over component video. HDMI is a must for 1080p on Blu-ray or HD DVD. Computers are the only thing I can think of where you could get 1080p resolutions or higher over an analog connection. Currently no broadcasts are sent in 1080p and may not be doing so for some time.

are you sure? I thought I had done my research, but I might be wrong. There may be something I am missing but I thought the sony would accept it which would allow me to keep my current rec. I was asking mainly for the diff in audio, by going ps3-tv-back to rec or ps3-rec-tv. By using component I can just add the tv in my current setup and get 1080p something I don't get now.

I am not sure if that applies to movies and games, it could be just games. I think the 360 might output 1080i over component for the HD DVD drive, but 1080p for games.

The PS3 is capable of decoding Dolby TrueHD internally and sending it out as either 5.1 or 7.1 LPCM via HDMI, but not SPDIF. If sent to the tv first it will downmix whatever audio that comes in to an SPDIF friendly audio format like Dolby Digital or DTS.

It also depends on the player and the software. I seriously doubt you will get true 1080p over component from a 1080p source, hi def.
No reason why a 480I cannot be upconverted to 1080p and passed through the component as it is only standard def stuff.
