Hi guys,
I've been reading all over the places for a new receiver. I'm building my first HT ever.
So far I have a Optoma HD72 projector + Oppo dvd player. I'm looking for a receiver that can go nicely with these two above components. My HT will be most for DVDs and TV (music is only 30%).
My budget for the receiver is $300 top.
Here are some of the options I have so far:
-Yamaha HTR-5840 XM-Ready 6.1-Channel
-Panasonic SA-XR70S 6.1 Channel
-Pioneer vsx-815 7.1
-Panasonic XR55 is out since I can't find it in stock any where.
Please add other receivers that you would recommend instead of these 4.
PLease help me out guys since I really need to stop looking for receivers (my head is going to pop).
Thanks.
Viet

If you read through the posts in the amps/pre/pro/receiver forum here on audioholics you will find all you need to make an informed decision.

Hi Nick,
I did read thru most of the threads => I'm confused. There are too many choices and it seems they all have the same quality.
I also found these two receivers as in the last couple of hours of browsering
-Yamaha-HTR-5960
-Sony STR-DE898 Home Theater Receiver
What do you think, guys?

Between those two, the Yammi is the much better choice.

Receiver and speakers

In the $300 range, the Yamaha is a good option. However, you should consider deciding on your HT speakers first, then select a receiver that is capable of driving them.

thanks everyone for your helps...I think I will go with the yammi now...I went to Worst Buy to check our their receivers and I saw they use the yammi for their demo speakers...pretty impressive for its price.
So now I'm gonna look for some speakers, any help from you guys will be nice :)
