Help with Check speaker cable

I installed a new amp and when running YPAO on the back speakers my receiver shuts off. When it comes on it says check speaker wires. What exactly should I be looking for? Speaker side or receiver side?

Can you tell us more about the new amp you added to the receiver? Or are you just talking about the receiver's amp section and running YPAO initially? I'd definitely check the connections at both ends if not the speaker wires themselves, tho.

Its the PSW10. I don't think its the amp bc my wife told me when she was watching it few days ago it would turn off with that message. What exactly should I be looking for?

PSW10 as in the Polk subwoofer? I'd look for stray strands of wire perhaps at the terminals of amp/speaker, is it possible the speaker wire was compromised somehow in installation?

I tend to agree, your speaker wire looks like a gnarly mess.....

Its an old installation. I had someone do it when they mounted my tv. Im struggling her trying to figure out the polarity. The Amp, center, and front sprakers work fine. When it hits the back it turns off. I removed the right back speaker to test and when it goes to the back left speaker it also turns off.

The speaker wires themselves can help with that. Hard to see in your photo but they may have a stripe on one half, or a tinned wire, or ridged insulation on one half (that you can feel with your fingers). Keep those consistently connected and your polarity should be fine. Polarity shouldn't be a cause of shut-down, tho. Maybe a message about out-of-phase....

Yes one has a stripe. That's the one that is currently going to the -

Just do that consistently with each connection and polarity should be fine.
