help with bose 901 series vi

i am using an onkyo tx-sr806
i have one set of 901's
1 set of polk rti-a9
i just bought emotiva xpa-5
problem is with bose active eq
do i really need to use it?????????
the people at emotiva dont seem to think so
because of the "dac" in the receiver
some one please help is it possible to separate
how can i hook this up and work

it says i cant use conventional speakers
can the two sets of speakers be used in this setup
the people at emotiva tell me just to use the dac onboard the onkyo
i have been using the 901 without the eq and cant seem to tell
the differance of course the polk speakers are playibg to
do i really need this eq

IIRC, the equalizer always was a separate box from the speakers.

Yes, you do need to use it with those speakers. They alte rthe signal sent to the speakers so the bose speaker doesn't sound like total sh!t.

Insert it between the preamp out and the main amp in for the channels that the Bose speakers are on.

I'm both surprised and disappointed at the answer you got from Emotiva. They obviously aren't familiar with those speakers.

Sounds odd that Emo told op that. I've never even had Bose speakers and knew the answer to that question.

Just between us, I don't think OP heard them correctly. From the mention of a DAC, methinks he asked them about a tape monitor/loop.

Of course, if he can't hear the difference between using it or not, it's a moot point.
