That cable is best for bi-wiring... for "regular" speaker hookups, it has twice as many conductors as you need.

If you insist on Blue Jeans, the 5000UE or Twelve White (same thing, different colors). If you want something a little more cost effective, but with equivalent performance, you can look at a spool of 12-gauge copper wire such as http://www.cablesforless.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2341

The Canare 4S11 also works superbly in a normal configuration, you just use two conductors for each run. This will give you an 11ga effective cable. However, since you have spring clips, it would be best to go with a normal 2 conductor cable. If you had 5-way binding posts on your speakers, I would advise you to use the 4S11 with banana plugs.

Why would you do that, when it's almost twice the price of Blue Jeans' 10 gauge cable?

Because I probably wouldn't buy bulk cable from Blue Jeans. I'd buy from here:

http://www.westlake-electronic.com/cgi-bin/store.php?search=yes&detail=yes&and=0&SUBCAT=all&keywords=4s11&item_no=CAN-4S11-100MT&category=CAB&redir=1

The star-quad geometry is better at rejecting noise (if you live in an area with radio saturation), the extra conductors serve as a backup should one ever fail (evil dog at your cables), and I just like the more uniform and round appearance of the cables. When it all comes down to it, it's a personal call.

You may also want to consider speaker cables from Target, WalMart, Home Depot, usually have very good prices. Also, check into low voltage landscape wire at Home Depot.

do you think that getting 12 gauge cables from blue jeans is overkill?

Not the ga but their price, even though theirs is pretty good, 12ga can be had for $.30/ft or less. Can Blue Jeans do that? Then buy theirs:D

How long are your runs? 14ga or even 16 might do, for even less, if cost is a consideration at all.
