What are the minimum requirements to use a receiver for a 4K TV?

I will be getting a new LG C2 77 Oled. I am not a gamer and my Sony 1040 which I love, especially for music, although a 4k receiver is only HDMI 1.4a and not HCDP 2.2/HDR compliant. That means I would have to connect my Apple TV, Blueray player, Chromecast, and firestick to the TV or an HDMI switch and only use the AV receiver for audio. I am only running a 5.1 system and may add 2 height speakers

I have looked at a number of the 8K receivers and most still have issues and for many, music is not their strong point. I can still get my hands on a Sony STR-ZA810ES, which is an upgraded 1080. Although a 2017 receiver has the following and wanted to know would be able to handle the LG and 4k.

Sony Premium Home Entertainment - STR-ZA810ES

HCDP 2.2
HDMi 2.0a
4k passthrough
HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), and Dolby Vision™6 compliant
DoLby DTS and Atmos
eARC/ARC

Sure, that receiver will work fine for 4K within the HDMI 2.0 specification.

It won't pass higher refresh rates beyond 60hz, which are part of the HDMI 2.1 specification, so if you ever want to go beyond basic 4K/60 then you would need one of the newer AV receivers with at least some level of 4K/120 support/HDMI 2.1. I will say that I picked up a couple of Yamaha receivers this year, that I use for 4K/60 and I haven't had any problems with them. So, they really have the 4K/60 portion of their products figured out even if their higher level HDMI 2.1 features aren't fully dialed in yet. It hasn't gotten in the way of my enjoyment at all.
