Hello,
I don't really have a clue about sound systems, but have to set up one up for a yoga studio I'm helping to open. I figure the best place to turn to help is to the experts in the matter.
I need a system that will have the capacity to play music via iPod/MP3 Player, provide sound for a wireless clip-on microphone (for the teacher/presenter), provide sound for a standard wireless microphone (for questions) and a easy/quick way to plug-in an extra microphone (in the case of malfunction of either of the other two microphones).
The room dimensions are approximately 25'x36'8"x8'3". The system does not have to be very loud, but does have to be evenly distributed. Also, the controls should be as simple as possible.
It seems to me that I'll need speakers (duh), an amplifier and maybe a mixer. I want to keep the system as simple as possible because, unlike you, I'm no audiophile. I need help to figure out the following...
1) What components will I need for my system?
2) Since our ceiling is pretty low for a studio, we'll have to put the speakers in-ceiling. How many speakers will I need? Where should they be positioned? How many watts should each speaker be? What kind of speaker, etc.
3) Since the speakers will be in-ceiling, do we need a subwoofer? If so, how powerful do you suggest?
4) Are there amplifiers that can suit our needs, or will we need a mixer? Can we skip through the amplifier by using a powered mixer?
Thanks so much for any help you offer. I know I'm asking for the design for a whole system, but even help getting started will be gigantic. I'll check back on this thread often to answer any questions posed. Thanks again!
