Help with an old Denon?

Hey all-

I've got a problem, I was hoping you all could help with. I've got an old Denon DCD-1400 that worked great. Then, all of a sudden (I wasn't there, but was related the story later) it stopped playing CDs. It seems to be "stuck" somehow. Now here's what happens, when the player is turned on, all of the counters are at 00 (time, index, and track no.), direct is also displayed as well as a band of numbers across the bottom-- 1 through 20. When a CD is inserted the time counter dissapears, then reappears at 00m00s. It doesn't seem that the cd spins up, but I'm not really sure of that.

I'm not to familiar with the player itself, and don't seem to have a manual. Is there some way to reset it? Does anyone else have any ideas?

If your're wondering, the last CD it played was Madonna's greatest hits-- like I said, I wasn't there at the time.

My guess would be that it has given up the ghost. When a CD player dies, it will not read the CDs any more. That's what my Denon from the 80s finally did. I replaced it with a DVD player. Peace.
