Well so far I've decided on getting the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver for use with my PS3 for blu-ray and games and my Samsung LN40A650. :)

The 7.1 speaker config i picked out is a pair of Yamaha NS777's for front L&R, an NSC225 for the center, a Yamaha YST-SW315 sub, and 4 Yamaha NS-333 bookshelf speakers. I was just wondering how this setup would sound since im new to all this surround sound stuff :p:confused:

Also just a random question for anyone with that Samsung TV, if I plug the Xbox 360 up to the Onkyo via component and it converts the video to output via the HDMI, will that fix the issue ppl are having with 1080p and the component output from 360's to that TV?

Thanks in advance!!!:D

I think you need to take a step back and put some more research into that subwoofer. On several of the forums that I frequent I have never seen that subwoofer recommended. And the subwoofer can greatly effect your HT experience.

Yeah CNET is usually where i go for reliable reviews but i couldn't find one by them for the sub so i went to Amazon and they had a bunch of 5 stars and maybe 1-2 4 stars so i figured it'd be good. I gotta admit i love listening to trance and with all the heavy bass lines I want to make sure i have a great sub. Any you'd recommend?

IMO, and maybe I am wrong, but I wouldn't trust one review from CNet or Amazon.

What size room, openings to other rooms?

I hate to be the one to break the bad news. But with a room that size. You will not even hear that subwoofer. In fact I don't know of many $300 subs that you would be able to hear.

Your listening area might be in a small area of that 29x27 room. But your subwoofer works off total area volume.

IMO if you want to do this right e-mail these companies and ask their opinion as to what sub would work well for your situation.

If your handy with tools, and have time you could build a DIY subwoofer. There are a few kits that would work well for you.

This is a real subwoofer. You will not see many of these on CNet or Amazon. LOL

Haha, yea I've done some more research and I found the 7.1 SBS-01 system from svs with the PB12-NSD sub. What would you say about that system? Which sub would be better?

That is a great little system. Still the sub is not the proper sub for your area. I suggest you e-mail SVS and ask their opinion. They are great guys and will help you make an educated decision. Tell them your room dimensions, and what you'll be using the system for.

Tell them Mazer sent you. LOL

You might even want to build a system a few components at a time.

I think the SVS SBS-01 system is an excellent HT rig. If this system is primarily going to be used for HT, great. If this system is going to be used for multi channel background music, or non critical listening, great. If this system is going to be used for critical 2-channel music listening, no.

But why not go with a SVS sub?
