Looking at Polk R50 ( 2 6.5in. drivers) or Klipsch SF1's (1 6.5in. driver). I can get either of these for about the same price. My first thought is an extra driver in the polk would be better, what do you guys think? I thinking that instead of 2 souround speakers, just getting 4 of the floorstanding and using thoughs, will this sound good. On a different note, i am matching these up with a Dennon AVR-1905 reciever at $450 , the reason being because it has 3 inputs for componet. (ps2, cable box and dvd player) Do you guys have any other recievers in mind. Sorry, I am pretty stupid when it comes to audio, i will try and keep up. Thanks for any help.

Ptabib, how much money do you want to spend on the whole system?

No Polk or Klipsch. As Mr. T. stated, give us some figures to work with.

sorry, i did not know i would get such a quick reply. The 4 speakers would run about $500 all together, not including the center channel and subwoofer. ( i was hoping i could wait a while on the sub) About 350-450 on the reciever, and 150 or so on a dvd player.

I would prefer the Polks, but you may want to do a side-by-side test because you may not like what I like. Also, I have not heard that model Polk. I HATE the sound of Klipsch unless it is the Heritage line.

Wow, I listened to those Polk's tonight. They sound terrific. But here they were $129.99 each. So that there is DEFINATELY a good deal.

I prefer the Klipsch over Polk myself. The Polks sound weak in the upper midrange and are much less efficient. The center channel vocals sound muddy as well. I would not pick a speaker just because it has more drivers. It takes more power to get the same sound level from the Polks than it does the Klipsch. Some people consider the Klipsch to be bright, but I don't find this to be true with my ears.
If the Polks sound better to you though, get them. You may want to listen to a few other brands in the same price bracket first, or consider going with a direct (online) company.
