I bought a yamaha htr-3064 5.1 theater reciever, then purchased an 'Acoustic audio' speaker cabinet [AA8XT, 2X 8"subwoofers and 2 horns] to use for the center channel. The speaker unit has [2] inputs [one on each end] and the company won't tell me wheather just one of the inputs will drive the woofers AND the horns properly. This unit does have a cross over network, as well as the reciever.
I thought that if it requires 2 inputs to function right, I would put the subwoofer output of the amp into one input and the center output of the amp into the other. The company's pamplet was completely vague about the configuration of this speaker cabinet and the company's answer to me on this issue was as if I were talking about a completely different unit.
I hope I can finally get a straight answer so I don't blow this thing up along w/ my amp!
Kind regards,
Audiomutant

That seems to be made for car audio, you realize that?

If you want to use it, your best bet may be to pop out some drivers and see how it is wired. If you post some pics someone may be able to help out.

It might work, but for a center, but Im skeptical. Do you have the option to get a refund?

Can you say "white van speaker"?

Amazon shows a list price of $250 yet it sells for $58 new? C'mon. what did you expect?

All I could find was this useless write up. The last paragraph is particularly amusing.

To wit: "The most excellent means so that you cold saw can be so that you discover one self an important effective angle drills. In cases where the public are usually researching meant for each biscuit joiner an individual will need to consider selecting some scrollsaw out of a great on-line reserve."

OK, whatever.

Anyhow, my gut feeling is that those are for two separate channels, right and left, but if I were that curious, I'd take a peek inside to see what's really going on.

Good luck. Remember, sometimes you get exactly what you paid for.

Keep the receiver , but refund or throw away that "speaker", most likely it has nothing of value to you
I 100% agree - it's screams White Van scam

Acoustic Audio = white van scam. One of the many names for the various white van scam products.

You can usually pick them out from their similarity to other known brands too.

For example, Aperion Audio and Ascend Acoustics? Add them together and you get Ascend Audio or Acoustics Audio or Audio Acoustics or many other variations.

No refund.

Thank you all for your kind replies.
This unit sz it's 800 watts. I think I'll hook up one side and see what happens, since the whole thing is covered w/ carpet and there is no exposed screws to get the unit apart. B.t.W., It states that this unit can be used for theater speakers or I would not have bought it. [no refunds]
Funny, Cars, RV's, trucks and theater speaker all in one! Maybe that's why their Owner's manual is so vague. I beleive I'll wait to hook it up before I shoot m' down w/ some less than gentle feedback!

Kind Regards,
Audiomutant.

Can't you take out one of the woofers from the front and peek inside?

I tried the speaker cabinet and in fact it is a R/L combo unit. Surprisingly it doesn't sound all that bad. My theater room is only 12x12 so I can get by for now and replace the speakers as I can. The Yamaha 3064 is a good amp.
