I just bought a Pioneer VSX-LX101 AV receiver, and trying to connect a Sony BDP-S390 player with a LG 43UH6100 TV. AV works ok until I play a DVD. Video works to TV, but I get no audio. Receiver HDMI(ARC) out goes to TV. BD HDMI goes to Receiver HDMI port 1. I checked cables, settings, but must be missing something.... no the TV or receiver are not on mute. I'm pulling my hair out trying to fix this.:confused::( Anyone able to help?

It's got to be a setting in the receiver for the type of audio signal the AVR looks for when you select HDMI 1 as the input.

Shut it off and try again after a good night's sleep.

What are the audio output settings on the Sony 390? Do you have an hdmi through setting in the receiver to pass audio to the tv only?

Overnight restart: nogo
Audio output settings on the 390: supposedly jut HDMI, if I understand your question correctly.
Receiver HDMI through: on Settings, BD player, set to -----. other options were analog. Strange that even not set to analog, on playing a dvd, the receiver "STATUS" button press shows video as HDMI, and audio as Analog????? don't know how or why that is. HDMI(ARC) is on, and CEC is on. BD player HDMI cable goes to the receiver HDMI port 1. HDMI out(ARC) from receiver goes to the HDMI(ARC) on the TV.

Have you tried running it thru the avr first, ARC isn't very reliable on multiple fronts

I was more curious on just what the audio settings were, but if your audio is shown as analog in the avr then I'd think you need to look at input/output assignment in the avr. I'd try turning off the hdmi control/CEC/ARC settings in both units, too. You don't have an analog connection at all, do you? You might also try a microprocessor reset for the avr.

True, and CEC can create even more headaches. When they work, it's GREAT! When they don't, it's very frustrating...to say the least.
