Help to compare these receivers

Harmon Kardon AVR 146 (or 147...pretty much the same), the Denon 1506 and Denon 587...which do you recommend. No need for details...I can read the specs on my own. I just want your first choice.

Thanks!

Didn't you start a similar thread to this recently?

It would be easier for people to refer back to your questions if they where on the same thread.

You have to decide on your own what receiver best fits your needs. Do you want/need HDMI features, do you need a certain amount of connectivity or certain features. What kind of speakers are you powering, more specifically efficiency and nominal impedance.

It all depends on the factors of what you need for your home theater, and your personal feelings on the products you are looking at. If you like H/K and they features they offer, go with them, if you like Denon and they features they offer, go with them. No one here can decide what is appropriate for you.

Remember that similarly priced models (assuming they are new models) are going to offer similar performance and features. The variance between each receiver in the same price range is going to be minimal.

I hope this helps you find what you are looking for, now go out and listen.:)

It depends. The H-K's have HDMI switching but are only 5.1 receivers. The Denon are 7.1 receivers, but don't have HDMI. How are you going to use it?

The H/K 146/147 do not process audio over HDMI. The H/K AVR 247 does however.

I vote for the HK-147. I think "low-end" HK sounds better than "low-end" Denon or anything else in my experience. I just thought the sound was a little clearer in the HK. So I would pick the HK-147 over the Denon.
