Help, subwoofer popping

I've got a SVS-PB12 connected to a Pioneer 72TXV. Only other things connected are a PS3 and a DirecTv DVR. This set up has been in place for years and my subwoofer has never made a popping sound. Recently it seems to do it when there are content changes like blu-ray menu to the start of the movie. It will also do it when you initally press the commercial skip button on the DVR. I have no idea what's going on, but it's a little annoying. If anyone has any ideas that can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

That might indicate an issue with the receiver.(esp if the sub doesn't pop during use at all) The preouts(subwoofer output) on the rear panel of the receiver should mute the output whenever the signal is "lost" for a moment...ie....switching inputs or codecs.

Thanks for the rplyTom. It doesn't pop at all when its in use. I hope its not my receiver but if it is, I hope its an easy fix.

I don't think it will be an easy fix(if it is the mute circuit) for a typical consumer. A repair shop with a schematic would be the usual path I'd guess.

You may be able to tame the "pop" to some degree by manipulating the subwoofer output level in the receiver and the subwoofer volume control(on the subwoofer amp). Try increasing one and decreasing the other(to maintain proper overall bass levels) then vice-versa.
