Help, subwoofer not getting signal

I have moved and am not setting everything back up. I have a 'new' reciever - Onkyo NR818, a Velo SMS-1, and a Crown amp to push the passive sub. Also have a Alphex 124A.

Got it all hooked up and am not getting a signal to the sub at all. It does have a slight hum as if is feeling the amp... but that is all.

I have gone from bridged to stereo, Ch 1 to 2, pushed up the volume on the SMS1 and nothing.

I remember during the setup at the old house there was a few things that I had to figure out but now I cannot remember what they were.

Does the order of the SMS and Alphex matter? I think I have tried both.

I have tried both balanced and unbalanced connections.

Any thoughts that might unlock the mystery for me?

You have a lot of stuff in the signal chain there. Try connecting the amp directly to the receiver, and make sure the sub's level in the receiver's menu is all the way up. If you get sound from the sub, add the other pieces one at a time to isolate where the problem is.
