So the other night I sat down to watch a movie, popped in a BluRay and started watching. 10 minutes into it the video starts cutting out randomly. Audio still seems mostly ok but not great, either. So, I think, great. Bad disc. Took a look and didn't see any visible damage to the disc, but popped in a different movie to check. Same thing happens. So, I check the cable (HDMI) connection on both player and AVR, no issues. Now I'm thinking the BluRay player (Panasonic BDT220 - about 2 years old) has crapped out, so down to BestBuy for a new one. Got the Panny BDT230, plugged it in, did the recommended firmware upgrade, and start to watch. Same problem. Changed out the HDMI cable. Same problem. Now I move the input to a different port on the AVR (one that has worked fine with AppleTV plugged into it before), same problem. I have no idea now what to do. I have the following equipment:
Anthem MRX-700 AVR
Panasonic BDT230 Blu-Ray
Samsung Plasma TV (can't remember model number)
The only thing I'm considering is whether there could be a problem with this specific firmware version on the Panny BluRay given that it happened on both models. Seems a little strange but no other real ideas right now. I guess I could go and buy a Sony or Samsung BluRay player to verify that, but I'd rather not spend the $$ if I don't have to. Alternatively, I guess there could be an issue with the Anthem AVR and BluRay signal, but I don't know why that would just pop up now after 2 months without any issues before and on multiple ports.
Any other thoughts? I've tried multiple discs, both BluRay and DVD format, and had the same problems on all of them.
