HELP - SOUND ISSUES/HDMI cables??

Both my living room and office systems lose sound occasionally. sometimes sound works immediately, sometimes it goes off after playing for a while. sometimes the sound doesn't work immediately upon powering up. As far as I can tell all settings are correct...input, enhanced sound settting. Doesn't appear to be an AVR or tv issue. Based on my testing, it's likely the hdmi cables as this is the only common factor amongst the two systems. Sapphire/wirelogic 12 foot cables used (4k UHD, HDCP 2.2, 18GBPS). Here's my setup

Living room - Sony 75 inch 950G, Denon x3600h, B&W M-1'S, PV1D Sub Sapphire hdmi
Office - Sony 49 x900e, yamaha rx-a2060, definitice speakers, svs sb-2000 sub

Has anyone experienced problems with on/off again sound related to hdmi cables?

Usually with HDMI, they either work or don't (usually in terms of picture). Personally, never have experienced a sound issue like you describe.

Is the video signal acting up at all?
Are these new cables that are not behaving?
Old cables that just started misbehaving?

If you want to try something, get a different cable and switch it out for the ones in question... you should know right away if the behavior continues.

I've been very satisfied with these:

What are you using as an audio source? Is this all using audio return channel or some garbage like that? If so, the list of people who complain about ARC is immense. Like, a crazy number of issues are related to the use of ARC.

If you are using an external source for audio, like a cable box hooked up to your Denon, then the cable box creates the audio signal to the Denon, and you should only have video out of the Denon to your TV. If audio drops, but the TV picture stays in place, then that would be very weird and indicate a possible issue with the cable company. If you switch to a different source, like a Blu-ray Disc player, and you don't have any audio issues, then it most likely is the source itself.

We had two cable boxes that both started acting up. It ended up being a problem with our cable provider, not the boxes or cabling.

I will say, that at 12' in length, I highly question the support for 18Gb/s signal path on those HDMI cables. So, there would be no harm in replacing them with something better, but it would be good to know what you are using as a source for the audio first, and how that audio is getting into the AV receiver.

Doubt it's the cables but maybe swap different ones in and see if the problem follows or not. More likely just handshake issues. I had one particular bluray player with one avr that would do that....in other setups it's fine, tho.

I swapped different cables and still no luck. I have this issue and other technical issues. Is there such thing as a technician who does house calls for such technical issues, calibrate my tv/equipment, etc.?

How old is your AVR? It could be an intermittent failure on the processing board. That would be just about worst case, because that can be hard to track down. (I know, been there.)
Other thoughts, the handshake, as Lovin' said.
Also age of other gear. Most of this is supposed to e all backwards compatible, but perhaps you have a weird situation with two HDMI protocols not communicating properly.

My Denon AVR is 3 months old with current updates and my Yamaha is 3-4 years old with current updates. I feel I need a professional technician to have a look as all my troubleshooting efforts with my rookie knowledge have been unsuccessful

It's a pain in the butt to do, but it might be worth starting a conversation with Denon (D&M/Sound United) about the problem. You should follow their script for restarts and resets... if you don't now, and it is the AVR, you'll just have to do it later. *shrugs
