Help setting up Dayton 1000 sub for Dayton DTA-2.1BT2 Amp

I have a Dayton Audio DTA-2.1BT2 100W 2.1 Class D Bluetooth Amplifier with Sub Frequency Adjustment

And trying to connect a Dayton Audio SUB-1000 10" 100 Watt Powered Subwoofer.

The bookshelf speakers (Micca MB42X Bookshelf Speakers 4 Inch Carbon Fiber Woofer Silk Dome Tweeter ) work just fine. Banana plug to banana plugs.

The current setup:
From the Amp's subwoofer output, I have deadbolt banana plugs with 14GA speaker wire from the amplifier to the RCA deadbolts plugs to the RCA input ports on the sub.

I was getting audio but only when one RCA is plugged all the way in and the other barely in. No audio if only one plug is plugged in. A humming / buzz if both are plugged in. I have tried wiring the RCA deadbolts with both middle and outer adjustment screws touching the wire, then only touching the small one for the center post, then just toughing the larger one for the outer shell.

I was thinking about buying banana plugs to RCA prewired cables to see if that fixes the issue.... Ie: MEIRIYFA 2RCA Plugs to 2 Banana Plugs Speaker Wire, Dual Banana Plug to RCA Male Plug

If there is a better way to hook this up please advise. I was planning on using the high lvl inputs but didn't understand how to do it as it's R/L sets.....

The sub output on that amp is intended for a passive sub, not a powered sub. You might try the high level/speaker level inputs on the sub, but rca input is inappropriate (and hope you havent damaged anything).

Thank you! That worked! I didn't have the gain knob turned up when I tried the high level inputs before. I put the amp on Auto which hopefully is safe?

Setting the gain/volume knob properly would be a good start :) Mostly it's to match levels with the speakers somewhat. The sub just "takes" the signal from the amp on high level inputs, but with your particular amp would at least provide some universal volume control for both sub/speakers. I'm not sure what amp on auto means....what does your manual say?

"Power Switch (Auto On/Off): When the power is in the auto position, the amplifier will automatically turn on when a signal is present. Note: In auto/off mode, the power on LED is always on (red), even when amp is in rest mode (off). The power LED will turn green when the unit is activated."

As long as the sub turns on/off properly with your setup, I wouldn't worry about it (as long as the signal is always strong enough to trigger the sub on, and turns off in a reasonable time). They can be sources of irritation if they fail, tho.
