Help. Remote Control for my digital media

I have a Gateway connected DVD player that receives all my digital music and pictures from my PCU through my wireless network. It displays all the menu options on my tv and comes with a separate non wireless remote with no screen. The DVD player is also set up through my stereo receiver with has a setup for mutliple room speakers.

My problem is that while I listening to music I want to use the menu options while I'm in another room or outside. I know I could probably get a rf universal remote with LCD that handles all the volume and moving forward or back for the songs, but I don't think I would be able to access the same menu that shows on my tv screen.

What I'm thinking of is what the SONOS system has for a remote control, although that is rather pricey for me since I already have this setup.

Gateway, to my knowledge has discontinued this product, so I don't think they make anything that can handle that, but I would love to a wireless remote control that can access the Gateway menus. Do I have any options or should I start looking at another digital receiver? Thank you.

RF Remote

LCD Remotes like the Harmany and Home Theater Masters have macros that allow you to enter a series of commands. This might handle the menu functions on your DVD player. High end remotes include the RF feature, but you can add it to any remote for about $50 if you but the RF remote control extender from parts express.

Showing the same menu that is on your TV would require two way communication and I don't think any aftermarket product will have that capability.
