So, I'm new, yay
I'm not a total newbie, but I would still say my hifi knowledge is below average in the grand scheme of things...

Anyway I'm hoping for a bit of general advice. I spend a LOT of time working in front of my computer and I'm looking to set up something nice to make it a bit more pleasant.

So I'm looking to put together a stereo setup from excess gear I've got already, but I'm willing to spend more to get it going.

So, I've got :

Pair Technics SB-F88 speakers
Pair Jamo Alto Signature speakers
1 x Marantz PM-400
1 x Toshiba/Aurex SC-M12
DAC "Destroyer" DAC from hotaudio.com

At the moment setup I'm leaning toward is something like :

Computer -> DAC -> (maybe tube pre amp with vol control?) -> Toshiba amp -> Jamo speakers

I kinda like the toshiba's sound, seems a bit more details IMO than the marantz, though downside is less power.

Though I haven't totally dismissed the idea of using the marantz or the technics speakers. I dunno maybe I should just go DAC/Marantz/speakers (and a/b the speakers and decide which i like better). But from the playing around so far the technic's highs are a bit harsh for my tastes.

Thoughts anyone? I've been spinning my wheels a bit on this and just don't know anymore now lol
