Hello,

I am upgrading the my standard 5.1 to 7.1 and eventually 9.1 if i can understand one simple thing ... Can in-ceiling speaker function as 'Rear Surround' - all the schematic i see indicate a rear surround as book shelf speaker (which i can t install as the front wide speaker) ... Basically i can do all i want as long is in-ceiling speaker ... so here i have 3 simple questions

1) where do i plug my rear ceiling speakers? Rear surround or Top Rear speaker (my marantz 7010 support Top front and rear speaker i don't even know what for ...)
2) where do i plug my next 2 ceiling speakers? as front wide speakers or top Front speakers ? (no idea of the difference )
3) if i have to choose the top rear speakers - how do i simulate the rear surround (and vice versa for both questions )

Thanks

:)

While I wouldn't consider ceiling speakers for rear surrounds (surround back as your manual calls them) myself, but sure, you can do that, but rear surrounds aren't the same thing as top rear for use with Atmos/DTSX....thus, whether you want a 7.2.1 or 9.1 I'm not sure. Have you read the manual?
