Help please - should I upgrade

I currently have a Yamaha Rx-x2092 which I've had 9 or 10 years now and has served me well. Still works like a champ, but I'm being tempted by looking at the new Yamaha receivers. I'm considering upgrading to a RX-V2500 or 1600...is this a worthwhile upgrade? Will I notice a difference in audio or video quality?
thanks in advance for any advice

I don't know whether there would be an audible or visual difference or not, but I would suggest to anyone considering the upgrade path for any component that they wait for HDMI 1.3, which may be available in receivers early next year, for easier connectivity and new format compatibility, as well as double the broadband of present HDMI connections.

I would have a deep conversation with yourself: What am I missing in the present receiver that the new one will meet? DVD-A inputs? Must have all the video pass through and switched? Is there better flexibility that I need so badly to shell out for that new unit?

Audible differences will be nill unless your 2090 is already driven beyond its design limits on a routine basis, for some reason, and the new component's limits are appreciably greater than what you have now.

am I right to assume there is no DTS processing on your unit?

I recently got back from my sister my old trusty 2090 (She now has my RX-V 1300)
I needed a crane to lift the bloody thing & its made in japan, was going to sell it as well but with 5 discrete inputs it might make a handy power amp sometime, definatley has build quality stamped all over it
