Hello,
I'm posting this message from Brazil where there are limited options when buying speakers and prices are generally highly inflated.
My budget for a pair of speakers is R$8000 (8k reais or Brazilian real). In that range I've found the following units and only the first of which I had the opportunity to listen to:
B&W CM7 (8k)
Tannoy Autograph Mini (8k)
Tannoy Precision 6.2 (8k)
I listen to old Brazilian popular music on LPs, jazz, classical and eletroacoustic music. I don't usually listen to music at high volumes. My listening space will be a large room with wooden floors and ceiling.
I've always loved the sound of the Tannoys I've heard. Given that the Autograph mini will lack a bit of bottom-end when compared to the B&W and Precision listed above - can anyone offer an opinion as to whether or not the Autograph Mini has more to offer? Is the extra price just for the cabinetry? In the future I may add a self-powered sub - although I won't spend a lot of money on it.
I'm also looking at an amp. The best value quality stereo amp I can find is Harman Kardon HK990 (R$4649). It has 150 watts per channel, but with sensible use, there shouldn't be any problem using with the Minis, should there? (the minis have a recommended amp size of 20 - 100 watts)
Hope you can help! Thanks.
