Help picking an av receiver

Hi all, I'm currently looking for a AV receiver for myself. I'm building up a new home theatre set-up and the speakers I'm planning on getting are the Mordaunt-Short Aviano range (Aviano 2, Aviano 5, Aviano 8, Aviano 9) so this will be a 5.1 set-up. Now I'm an absolute fan of MS and I love their sound so the speakers aren't really up for a change.

Now I had in mind a Yamaha RX-V673 however I'm not sure if it's a suitable AV for this speaker set hence me asking you guys :)

My price limit is around 800€.

Thanks for your help.

How much you could get Denon 3312 for ? Or Onkyo TX-SR709

The Denon i can get for about 800€ I can get it from amazon.co.uk as for the Onkyo I can't seem to be able to find the SR I only find the NR and the Onkyo TX-NR 709 i get for about 950€.

I'd like to add that I'm going to be using this to listen to music as well so stereo content, would these AV perform well feeding the Aviano 8 speakers given that they are rated 200watts?

Sorry if these questions seem a bit off but I'm fairly new to this kind of stuff.

If you are planning on using your AVR to drive those speakers I would not recommended the 673. The suggested 3312 would be more suitable and if not you can add a two channel power amplifier to drive the towers for better stereo music enjoyment.

After spending some time reading up on the 3312 I'm finding it to be a very nice AV and I really like it's features and it's price is smack bang on what I'd like to spend I got one question though, like I had said I'm building this system to be a 5.1 am I losing anything by getting a 7.2? would I be better off getting another pair of speakers to go 7.1?

My basic understanding is you don't gain much from 7.1 unless you have a large room. Also, that's the same AVR I have and I absolutely love it. You'll be quite happy with the 3312!

I've done 7.1 and IMO it is not very useful. Only maybe for a very large room. Also, good luck finding true 7.1 mixes on movies, mostly you will have to use reciever processing to "create" the 2 SB channels.

Thank you all for your help and I'll leave one last question I have, I know that there are many posts explaining this but I just want your opinion for this particular case, if I were to pair the Denon 3312 with these MS speakers would there be a problem that the AV puts out 125watts when the surround speakers can only handle 100? and the centre 120?
And what about the front speakers which are ratted at 200?

Surround speakers don't need work as hard as fronts in most HT content so lower amp for surrounds is fine

Your Front 8's are measured to be 85 efficiency and Impedance dipping to 4 Ohm - "You are gonna need a bigger amp" :) to drive these in large room to high volumes, but in small to mid sized room you would be fine with built in amps in 3312

p.s: I just noticed you also decided to pick a matching MS sub - I will question that decision - Imo you would get much better sub from Internet direct brand like SVS or HSU - there is no need to match sub for most speakers, especially towers

So what would happen if I were to crank up to volume all the way up to maximum? I'd have no distortion coming out of the fronts but maybe some distortion coming out of the surrounds (assuming we're playing some heavy content that plays equal on all channels)? So then I'd never truly be able to fully take advantage of these fronts with this amp?

clipping at high volumes = permanent damage to speakers. If you hear distortion lower the volume right away!
You have amp pre-outs on 3312 - later on you can buy just the amp, for example Emotiva xpa-3 or something with even more kick
