Paradigm vs Energy

Ok. So this is sort of part of the other thread: Finding best HT speakers for aroudn 2000: I am looking for the total HT package to fit in my baseement with my big screeen(119") in a basement. The basement is pretty big but the theater area is 12' X 19' since some peopel were interested. I am using a Yamaha rxv-2400 reciever.

I finally got to go to the shops today and see some speakers. All i was able to hear today was:

Energy:
C-9 (front)
C-C1 (center)
C-R3 (rear)
S10.3 (sub)
Total: $2174 (sale price) org $2530

Paradigm:
Monitor 7
CC-370
ADP-370
PW 2100 V.2
Total: $2376

Both brands were not at the same store, so I cant get a real feel of them side by side. To me the Energy seems better. And the guy was nicer at that store than paradigm. I really liked Energy but I want to make sure they are good. The sub for Energy was nice but I heard people sayin that HSU and SVS are very good, but they are online places so I cant hear them in stores in my area. The paradigm sub didnt seem to be that good but I never go to hear it real well either. The price of Energy seems to be of liking too but that ends on Thursday. So i have 3 days to decide!
PLEASE leave some feedback so I can decide on which one to get. Thanks guyz.

There both great systems. Buy one without the sub. Buy the HSU or SVS, if you dont like them send them back and get something else. Its a win win situation. I think you will though.

Energy makes a great product, and I think their C-series is superior to the Paradigm Monitors so I think you are on the right track. I would rank the C-series between Paradigm Monitors and their high end Studio series (that's the conclusion I reached when I shopped both brands last year)

I would, however, go with something from SVS or Hsu if you can. The Energy 10.3 is very good, but it will be outperformed by the Hsu/SVS speakers at similar price. With normal speakers, it's important to match brands/models, but with subs, you have a lot more freedom to choose. An SVS PB-10 would work really well with either system and provide superior but tight bass in your medium sized space.

One other thing, I would actually choose the Energy C-C3 center channel over the C-C1, it's a much superior speaker. If that eats into your budget, then choose the C-7 instead of the C-9. Since the majority of the information comes out of the center speaker, you don't want to skimp there. Energy itself says the C-C3 should be paired with the larger floorstanding models.

Hey thanx for that advice. After thnking over it I am planning to get the higher center channel. I am planning to also get the LSU subwoofer after some research. I just hope the Energy C series will work well with my yamaha reciever because I have heard yamaha's are bright.

Yamahas are not really bright anymore. I have a 2400 also, and it's quite a bit warmer sounding than previous ones.
