Room size? Speakers? Music or Home Theater? With out more information you are not going to get much information. I happen to love the Yamaha products but if I said get the Yamaha and nothing else would that really help you?

Go with Denon. I have a Yamaha and a Denon now. I like the Denon over the Yamaha and the Denon is better than the Onkyo I just replaced. Just my opinion, but It doesn't look like you're considering the Denon.

Yamaha or Denon over Onkyo. Play with the remotes in the light and dark to see which one you like the best. Also, look for features that you will need. If one offers more options you may need now or in the future, and has a better or equal price, then choose that one. I went with a Yamaha last year.

You must be from the UK ??? The US version is the TX NR 901 which is a monster, THX Certified, and very PC compatible. The Yammy 2500 is a stellar HT/Audio system that ranks up there with the best of them. If you are a computer techie and want to integrate your HTAudio with your PC, go with the Onkyo. If you more into sound, go with Yamaha. I considered the 901, but hated the stupid logic of the Onkyo's setup (I'm not that quick nor intelligent!) and went with a user friendly Denon (bar the remote). The Yamaha would've been my next choice, but I have a Yammy 2 channel in the basement and wanted something different. All good choices. What speakers are you running?

Aires,

Here's pricing for each unit in US dollars for the Onkyo and Yammy. You can see why my choice is for the Onkyo. This assuming the 900 and 901 are equivalent. Sounds like a killer deal!
