Hello to all!
I'm new to the site and signed up to hopefully get some good info on what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm more on the Utiltarian side than the High Society side of the audio world.
I currently have an A-V system, primarily Adcom, and have used the Infinity Kappa 7.1's I purchased in 1994, as the main front speakers. I tought they sounded very good, but since hearing the Kappa 9's back in 1987, swore that someday I would have a pair! Ideally that's what I would like to aquire, however, do not know the difference between the 9 and 9.1's.
Not that it is the identical situation re: the difference in sound, but I recently picked up 2 pair (4) of Infinity RS IIIb's. Comparing the K-7.1's against the older RS IIIb's, it seems the RS IIIb's have a much more dynamic range and much brighter sound than the K-7.1's. The bass is much tighter on the
RS IIIb's as well, and I can compensate on surround movies as I use 2, self powered Infinity PS-12 subs!
If anyone can forward info on their experience or pros and cons, in sound between the Kappa 9's and the 9.1's, it would be greatly appreciated! I have checked on line but found limited sites with info re: the 2 speakers, etc. Any and all thoughts are appreciated!
I know there are newer speakers on the market that can blow the K-9's away, but the $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 price tag on the old Infinities seems like pocket change in comparison for the quality received!!!
PS: I'd be glad to buy someone a good dinner, that can tell me where I can buy a pair of these vintage speakers!
Thanks for your time...Bob
