Alright guys, I need your help. I want to build my own subwoofer like the RBH 1010sep.
My question is what plate amp would be designed to drive 2 10" drivers and how would
I connect it to 2 drivers? Do I connect the amp to one driver and then the driver connected
to the other driver? Please guide me in this endeavor of mine. Also would any one of you
know how long the port tube is in the RBH sub. I know Gene might know since he use to
sell them. Thanks

just buy one of these and call it a day http://emptek.com/es1010i.php

If I were building somthing like that I would buy speakers that could be ran in series or parrallel to make how many ohms my plate amp was... So if you have a 4 ohm stable amplifier get two 8 ohm drivers and wire them in parrallel... I also wouldnt run a plate amp, I would run a crossover and an xls crown class d amp...

Umm, I don't sell gear nor have I never sold gear. For a brief time we licensed our name for an estore but even then, that store didn't sell RBH gear.

That being said, you'd ideally want to wire the drivers in parallel and pick an amp that has a lot of output into low impedences.

Gene,
Sorry if I mislead the readers. I had emailed you once and you said you were able to get me one since there was no dealer where I was. Thanks for the info on the build.

ImcLoud,
Thanks for the diagram. That will help. I see you are recommending the BIC America F12 sub. I don't see it in your list of home theater items though that you own. Have you owned this sub before? There are so many subs on amazon with good reviews like the BIC F12, Polk Audio PSW505, and klipsch RW12D. How do you choose without trying them. I've had the PSW505 before and it hits hard in the high 30hz region but I would like it to go lower to the 20hz region. I also just found the company Power Sound and might look into getting one of their 15". If so, which one will I choose, sealed or ported. So many options. Also where can I get a Crown amp and what crossover are you recommending.

Sorry this dual 10" sub is what I was recommending...

EMP Tek ES1010i Subwoofer

sorry about that
crown amps are sold all over the place, amazon, ebay, parts-express, ect...

For a crossover, you may be able to use you avr, or you could use a simple low pass fmod, or something more technical, that some others on here can school you on...

parts-express has some pretty impressive diy subwoofer kits..

Thanks for the tip on EMP. That would be alot easier than building one. I will look into it.

I looked at the EMP and it looks like a great value but I would like it to play lower. So I'll keep looking but it will most likely be a build.

We can NOT provide you ANY help until we know your budget
Now regarding the Emp 1010 sub mentioned earlier - I have heard it play in small room and I was very impressed by it. A pair of these (often on sale) will fill nicely even a large space.

I think Jinuku published a design for dual opposed Infinity drivers in the DIY section

In addition to wiring two 8 ohm drivers in parallel, you could find a pair of 2ohm drivers and wire them in serial to get same 4ohm load to amp.
Crown XLS 1500 if probably the best choice for sub amp for diy

I like the passive sub designs this way, if you ever want to change something, you still have your amp, you build any design you want and still keep your amp..

Pick your budget, then your subs, then you will know what you need for wiring, you may end up with dual DVC subs and then that opens up even more wiring options...
If
you want a dual 10 sub, I would just buy 2 Dayton Audio 10" Ultimax Subwoofer and Cabinet Package 300-7095 glue them together, mud the seams paint them up and power with the xls1500, that will cost you around $800 give or take and be pretty insane... But for $400 if your room isnt huge, get the emp, they go on sale for $299 once and a while...
