hello i am a newbie and need some expert advice i own a pair of cerwin vega DX9 loudspeakers and i am looking to buy a yamaha R-S700 receiver and was wondering if the recever would over heat with the 4ohm speakers thank you

Yamaha specs the R-S700 for 6 ohms RMS and down to 2 ohms for dynamic power, so a 4 ohm speaker isn’t going to be a problem. On top of that CV speakers are known to be an easy load for a receiver, probably due at least in part to their better-than-average efficiency. So you’re good to go.

Those speakers can suck up a lot of power. They LIKE a lot of power to produce that bass they are known for..

Now, they are efficient, but that number may be in the midrange area. If you pump the bass up, it may push the amp a bit harder.
