Help needed....

I'm in the market for new equipment. I Used to be on top of this game when i had Adcom amps and Cerwin Vega's back in the day. Things now are beyond my knowledge and i feel overwhelmed.

What i have:

PS3
Sony Wega HD
Cerwin Vega DX9's
JBL 2206 H 600w continuous, 8 ohms
JBL 2425J Compression drivers 70 W Continuous, 16 Ohms

What i want to do:

I mainly watch blu Ray and Play video games. I also love To listen to music.
I need a stereo that can run all this equipment. I would also like to run outdoor speakers of of this. I would like to keep it under 2000.00.

Can you please give me some suggestions?

he first thing that we may need to know is what is your budget? (ok sorry just saw you budget)

With a budget of $2000 you are more than adequately geared to get yourself a very nice unit that will do whatever you want and more.

Basically speaking, you need a unit that will power a remote or zone 2 location and perhaps some HDMI pass through would be nice, too.

I recommend either the Onkyo TX SR805 or TX SR875 (which are both under your budget, the 805 is well below) because it's only what I am familiar with... that being said other receivers will do the exact same (more or less) as the onkyo.

As I said above, with a budget of $2K you can afford a very nice piece of equipment, so pretty much any decent modern receiver would fulfill your quite undemanding requirements for it.

I may seem undemanding but that is due to the fact that I'm ignorant of all the latest and greatest. I do however demand the best with the ability to upgrade. I do want HDMI pass through and enough power to run my Speakers hard.

those JBL's that you have are pro grade sound reinforcemment type speakers right? I will pose this to the other members, do you think that driving those may be an issue for him?

Yes, there are Pro Series. The 2425j's are horns and the 2206H's are 12in transducers. I used to have Adcom 565's that would push the Cerwin vega's. I'm looking for the best system to run lot's of power and have all the Video perks also. For instance do i need a Receiver and amplifiers?

What receiver will let me run a surround system and zone for my Jbl's and Cerwin Vega's? Plus Have the latest Audio tech. and HDMI upscaling and Pass through?

You mentioned that you had adcome gear before. They make a nice AVR
www.adcom.com Yamaha also and Denon. you may want to get one that has pre-amp outs so that later, if you wish, you can ad an amp.

so the 4308ci will let me run 3 zones , upscale to 1080p, work well with the ps3 and have preouts for amps to run the JBL's?

What Marantz and Yamaha would also do all of these?
