Hello all,
i just need ur wisdom on choosing a new receiver. I was looking at purchasing the Marantz Sr 7500, but now i am interested in the marantz sr 8300 SE which i can get on sale or the Marantz SR 8500. I just wondered if the Sr 8300 has a toroidal transformer like the Sr 8500 or if it worth getting the 8500. What are the differences. I hear talk that the 8500 is not a replacement for the 8300 but merely more of a upgrade or "sr 7500 lite edition".:)
Many thanks'

I've talked to a retailer and he said the biggest thing the 8500 adds over the 7500 is HDMI switching and a few watts (bigger power supply). Other than that, there aren't many other big differences. What 8300 SE? You mean the 7300OSE? The 8300 does not have a toroidal transformer; they started that with the 8400.

What prices are you getting on all of them?

Do you have a HD cable/satellite box or flat screen with HDMI?

What mfg/model speakers are you running? (Ohm rating, spl, and rms power handling)
