Hi All,
I just purchased Denon AVR 3808A receiver in india. I would like to setup 5.1 system. So here is the speaker setup suggested by dealer.

Fronts: Boston VR3 floor standers ( I already got this pair)
Center: Boston VRC 150 Watts 3 Way High performance Center Speaker
Surround : Boston VRX Wide Dispersion Surround Channel Speakers
Woofer : Boston XB6 12" 625 Watts Powered Subwoofer with BASH Amplifier

Please guide me the problems associated with above speakers setup. Few of my friends telling me that Surround speakers ( VRX ) do not match with VR3 series speakers so i'm in doubts.

I checked boston old product catalog and found that there is no VRX series instead i see VR-M/X with different specs. I do feel that VR-M/X is same/upgraded as VRX ?

Please help me to setup my first home theater.

Thanks

It's less important to have matching surrounds as matching L/C/R. My surrounds are of the same manufacturer, but on opposite ends of their product spectrum. Not that they are cheap, but they aren't in their signature line like my L/C/R are. If you read that last line aloud, you sound like a pirate!

I'm not pirate. :) I was trying to setup system with best speakers. It was my dream from years. My friends using VR3 + Onkyo Integra Stereo Amp and they never used 5.1 setup.
So i want to use friends VR3 and then setup good 5.1 system.

Also i welcome opinions on woofer BA XB6 for my setup.

Anyways thanks for your suggestion.

He’s not saying you’re a pirate, his statement sounds like pirate speak, Aargh Matey.

The Boston setup is very nice. The VRX is the surround for the VR series. But depending on your room layout, a set of bookshelf speakers may be more appropriate.

I don’t know how that sub performs or what your expectations are, but it’ll probably get down to the high 20 Hz range. This is decent but not the earth shaking bass some of us in the states like to feel.
