Ok i already own a seismic12 that in my book is a very good sub..now i want something that will outperform it and i mean something that can play loud and clean..ok..here it is...iv been looking at SVS new pc12-plus...that sub dont take much room and i need that! i dont care about the height and its only 16'' wide....so now my question is would that svs outperform my seismic12 and if i corectly understood what i read it can go down to 16hz...now i want dual in the future so would dual pc12-plus be a good choice or should i wait and get a single sb13-plus??...would a single sb13-plus be better then dual pc12-plus in the future?..thx..

I own a SVS sub, PB12-Plus and it is great both in sound and quality, by closing the porting you can get down to 16 Hz. The cylinder version PC12-Plus is also rate down to 16 Hz.

I personally would get the PC12-Plus now and then later if you need more sound volume the second MATCHING PC12-Plus would be a awesome upgrade.

How big is your room. One PC12-Plus will handle a fairly large room. The PB12-Plus which I have is fairly large, 25” deep x 19" wide x 21" high, and you mentioned the Cylinder for space limitations. There is not a SB version of the 13" Ultra, only a PB13-Ultra which is huge in terms of size 27” D x 20.5 " W x 22" H (w/o grill) and 155 lbs.

Good Luck and SVS is awesome sub choice,

Forest Man

There is not a SB version of the 13" Ultra...
Yes there is...they've already announced it, just not available yet.

Having heard the current PB Ultra, I'd say one would be hard pressed to want more than that and though I do think that two Pluses would be a better way to go if you have a room that supports duals, I think the Ultra is more than enough.

Yes, I am fairly certain it will easily. The Plus is no slouch. It isn't as clean as the Ultra, but it is a very good sub. I have heard the Seismic 10 and wasn't impressed at all, so if that is any indicator of the 12, then the Plus would be a step up.

Except for being an older sub (introduced 2004 ?), the Paradigm Seismic 12 sub seems to be a pretty stout and expensive sub ( same price as SVS PB13-Ultra, $1699). Why are you replacing it? Outperform ??? , both appear to be pretty strong competitors; at least from the review I read on the Seismic. Unless something is wrong with your Seismic or you are redoing and don't have space anymore for the Seismic ... I would probably keep the Seismic because you probably wont notice a significant difference.

JMHO... :)

Good Luck!

Paradigm's older Servo 15 doesn't even compare to the Ultra, so price doesn't really mean anything :) And the servo 15 was a good sub also. When I heard the Ultra the first time it gave me that silly grin like the first time I heard an SVS sub :D

yes the seismic12 is quit impresive but all i heard and read about SVS gets me to think a pc12-plus would outperform it...i just want more for the best price i can get,..i already contacted the canadian distributor and it would cost me 1060$ canadian for the pc12-plus so if i consider that i paid 2000$ for my seismic i think it would be great to have dual pc12-plus in the future then a single seismic12...now just tell me if for now a single pc12-plus would outperform my seismic12...what i mean by outperform is better in the lower frequencies ..quicker response for music and of course i want it to be loud cause i listen to a lot of music and very loud..

Loud yes. Better extension, probably (not deeper, but more authority), but quicker? That might be a tough one to qualify/quantify.

The thing that impressed me the most about the Ultra is that not only does it have the SPL, it still sounds good doing it. The Plus is not quite as clean in that regard, though I don't think most would have complaints about it with music.

I know, I've been talking about both. I have not heard the new PC Plus cylinder, but I have heard a number of the previous Pluses. Two will destroy a Seismic, and one I am sure will also be likely to have more output than it as well. Will it sound better with music though? That is hard to say. I do think that if you are saying that it is about half the price, you won't be giving anything up by going with the PC12 and you would only be gaining quite a bit with the Ultra.

I've also heard the Plus and the Ultra in the same room.

Having heard the Seismic 12 a few years back, I decided on the DT SC I as I didn't experience much difference between the two and the DT was less expensive. A couple years later SVS was offering a deal I couldn't pass up and picked up dual Pluses. After arrival and setup, I auditioned one alone and it handily outperformed the DT in my 3600+ cu. ft. space. Granted these are the previous versions, but I have no doubt the newer versions offer slightly better performance.

You might want to PM Rickster71, as he just replaced his Paradigm Seismic 12, with an Epik Empire in his HT.

You've got a pretty good sub now, what is the rush?

Why not wait a little while, save up some more money, and get the Ultra? It has an incredible reputation for doing everything well at a very good price.

The Plus might spank the seismic in HT, but it may not be "remarkably" better than your Seismic in the music category. I have the SVS SB12-plus, and I have to admit while it does well for LF extension and SPL, it does not keep up with the competition as a music sub.

My philosophy is if you are going to upgrade, don't get a marginally better sub, get a great sub!!

Just my two cents...
