Help! Need to pick receiver for Klipsch RF 35

I know almost nothing about the subject, but I need to purchase a receiver for my newly purchased Klipsch RF 35's. I am completely open minded, though I don't want to go too overboard. I will probably use the system for about 50-50 music and video. This is going into my living room which is open to the kitchen and dining room (approximately 600-700 sq. ft.). It would be nice to have the video handling (???) capabilities (e.g., upconvert, 2 or so HDMI in)for my plasma tv. I would like to limit my budget to about $1000-$1500.

I have the following speakers: 1 pair RF-35 speakers, 1 single RC-35 woofer, 1 Pair RS-35 and 1 single RW-12 subwoofer.

Would something like the Yamaha RX-V1800 be a good choice? Can anyone give me some advice?

Great choice IMO. Might be overkill as far as power is concerned for those speakers. But an excellent receiver.

Okay here are you key RF-35 specs:

8 ohm impedance
98 dB sensitivity ( excellent low power will drive them loud)
125w RMS power -500 peak.

So basically the Yamaha RX-V1800 easily drive the speakers. Because of the speaker efficiency you could also drive them with a much lower level Yamaha receiver, such as RX-V663 or even RX-V563

The RX-V1800 is a killer receiver, with lots of features, it will power those Klipsch with ease. If you want upscaling and have a need for more than 2 HDMI inputs, then the 1800 would be a good choice, otherwise I agree that the RX-V663 may be a better, and much less expensive option, as it will upconvert, but not upscale, and sitll has enough power for your speakers, as well as 2 HDMI 1.3a inputs, and will decode all the latest audio formats.

I just sold my rf35s a couple weeks ago and was powering them with a rx-v1700. I would definitely say that it is MORE than enough for those speakers. I never even got the volume up to half way and the room they were in is pretty large.
