I must start off by saying I am not that tech savvy. I purchased a bose lifestyle 28 series many years ago (I know I was younger and dumb). Anyway at present time I just purchased a new house and a new 58inch plasma TV. Here is my dilema....I have an HDTV and want to enjoy HDTV programming. My bose system is not HDTV compatible. Is it possible to run my cable to my cable box then to my TV then run the sound into the bose? I also want to get a new DVD player b/c the bose is not even progressive scan and do the same thing just run the sound through the bose system. If this is not possible can I get a new reciever and a subwoofer and run my direct reflecting bose speakers through them (I Know they are garbage). Basicly I want to run the speaker wires through the walls and use the bose speakers and then when I save some money get a respectible set of speakers and change them out. Will any of these things work? I know in a perfect world I could start over and get new everything but in my world I got to pay the bills.

Thanks!

Good and Bad news

First the bad news:
I don't think your bose speakers will work well even as satellite speakers with a new receiver. You are probably better off getting a good DVD player (Oppo Digital) and using the TV speakers until you can afford to upgrade the sound system.

The good news:
Bose has pretty good resale on ebay.

You might be able to connect a digital or analog audio output from the TV and hook it up to your Bose system to hold you over. Post a budget for your audio upgrades and we will give you plenty of suggestions.
