Please help! My wife decided to surprise me with surround sound in our game room. She had the techs put the speakers in the celing. She has 2 in the front of the room above the T.V. and 2 in the back of the room above the theater seats and the subwoofer behind the T.V. I don't know a lot about speaker placement, so I would like to know if this is correct? Should I add these speakers to our whole house system and just add in wall speakers to the room?

WOW - whether you like the sound or not, that was a pretty darn nice thing to do. So, do you like the sound? If not, what don't you like about it...

I agree with Ed what a little sweetheart you have there. As far as a center channel are they using the TV's speaker?

NathanF,

Can you sketch out the room and speaker placements? Plus your listening position would help.

When you say:

She has 2 in the front of the room above the T.V.
What kind of TV is it? Narrow and on a stand? You need to give some thought on a Center channel speaker... important if your front speakers are of any quality at all. So, placement of Center speaker can be above the TV... sitting on top, if a big RPTV, or in a shelf on top of the TV if it's a narrow type unit.

What kind of speakers are involved? Space between Front speakers and angle of these speakers to the listening position will establish the soundstage.
