Help me solve this puzzle.

I was wondering if someone could help me solve this puzzle, I can't seem to figure out why my original M&K subwoofer box is so much bigger than the subwoofer itself! Why is the original box way too big? It needs to ship tomorrow ASAP and I can't have it moving around inside the box because it would smash the metal mesh grill! Thanks in advance! :D

Assuming that sub goes in that box... stuff something to make it tight and send it over. I'll figure it out :)

18" H x 15 1/4" W x 23" D... Maybe the length of the shipping box needs to be oriented with the longest side on the sub"

Was the sub laying on its back, with the woofer pointing up?

Was there an inner box you might be missing?
Bingo I am missing the coverings for the mesh grill that would have filled in the extra space, after 12 years I can't remember much if anything. Good news is I some managed to get things snug and tight for the longest trip you can do here in the US, from CA to NY!
