Hi,

I am currently in the process of building my dream ATMOS system for my media room, and would like some advice on the remaining equipment that I need to purchase, which are speakers, projector and 160" screen. I have invested so far in the following equipment:

- NAD M17 V2 Pre
- 2x NAD M27 Pro
- 3x LCR R2
- 3x IW Sub Reference

Room dimensions 26 long x 22 wide

Any advice that you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What is it you are looking for? What do you want to know? What are your goals with this? :) The more info you give us, the better we can help.
For example, you say IW Sub Reference... is that Def Tech? Tons of questions could be voiced on this alone. :) Such as Why you chose that, Where they are placed in your room, Whether you have had acoustic measurements made... etc.

Hi,

I'm remodelling my media room, however the overall dimensions will remain the same.

I want to setup an ATMOS system and replace my existing Sony VPLHW45ES with a better projector system. Most of my media is played via Apple TV and I use the PLEX app on this device as well.

I recently purchased the LCR R2 and the def tech IW Sub from an individual that was moving house, and therefore would like to use them if possible. I will be building a wall to accomodate these speakers in the front of room.

I will need all the rear, surround and celing ATMOS speakers, and a projector and acoustic transparent motorised screen ~160". I'm thinking of setting up a 7.2.4 system, however I believe the NAD will only support 7.1.4, (although it has dual sub outputs). I may also need a sub amp, if I can't use two of the NAD M27 channels.

Let me know what else I can tell you.

Thank you for sharing the extra info! There are several cats here that have done full HT build-outs like what you are discussing. Hopefully they will chime in with some advice for you. :)

Do you listen to much music? If so, I would get you thinking about better front speakers and subs. My own experience with DT was lackluster at best. I do not have any experience with their in wall products though. That said, your front three speakers are the most important speakers in the system and care should be given to their proper set up.
Some have built a false wall with an acoustic screen for their projector, and place their speakers behind that. (Likely my favored approach vs in-wall application, but that’s just my opinion. :)) Subwoofers are best setup strategically around the room to offer the best sound and impact. Every room is different, and there are many approaches. I prefer setting up multiple subs according to the Geddes technique: he advocates asymmetrical placements around the room which when done with measurements allows for very good flat and even bass throughout more of the room. A google search will yield some resources and videos if you wish to learn more. ;)
For in ceiling Atmos speakers, I’ve seen many votes for the RBH options. Uncertain about in-wall surrounds and rears. (All my speakers are free standing.)

Hope this serves to get the conversation moving for you! Cheers!!!

Thanks for the additional insight and info. I have a seperate 2ch system for music so this is purely a HT setup.
