Ok, so I have decided to get a nice home system.

A little background information.
Currently I have this in my car:

alpine cde-9843
hifonics zx 6400 amp
1 IDQ12 D2
CDT Audio CL-61A 6-1/2

This was recommended to me as a budget car SQ System on this forum and I am totally pleased with it. The price on it was just right.

Listening to Coldplay's "Clocks" and when the bass starts playing it sounds unbelieveable.

At any rate, I would like to get the same kind of good deal/information for the home setup.

What will I be needing?

Receiver
2 speakers
sub
box
amp?

anything else?

What size sub? I live in a condo and the room where this will be going into is 19 x 12.

For the budget I would like to spend as little as possible.

I will mostly used them for listening to music (CDs). I would also like to once in a while hook them up to an xbox360 and also watch DVDs. But music will be the main priority. I would like to get floorstanding speakers.

What do you mean by "later expanding" as related to the receiver question?
As in adding more speakers?

From what I have seen so far most receivers now days are 7.1 systems.

I heard good things about Onkyo, so I will probably end up getting a receiver from them.

Couple questions:

1) Exactly how many watts per channel will I be needing in a 19x12 room?
Would 65 watts be enough? 75, 85? 100 would surely be too much right?

2) If you, or anyone else, could help me pick out a system out of www.circuitcity.com that would be great. I have a friend who works there and I could get a nice discount on all of the items there.

How good are Inifnity, Polk and MTX floor standing speakers and subs, as well as Speco, Telarc and Dual subs?

My budget is under $1,000.

But I understand the lowest you can go, is around $500 therefore my budget is $700-$1000.
