I'm going to use them mainly for music, but maybe some TV/movies/video games as well. They'll be standing on either side of my TV, but I'd like to be able to play music while I watch TV, so I don't plan on running the TV's HDMI video through the receiver. That said, I would like the option to listen to the TV audio through the speakers, so I'd like the receiver/amp to have an optical audio input (so I can do this: cable [hdmi ->] tv [optical audio ->] receiver -> speakers). I'm looking for something in the sub-$300 price range. What would be the best receiver/amp for this situation? Is there a good receiver in that range that can power these speakers, or will I need to buy a more expensive one? Thanks!

S stocket Audiophyte Aug 17, 2013 2 0 0 Aug 17, 2013 #3 Thanks for the response! I like the Denon receiver you posted (AirPlay is really convenient), but it's sold out and I can't find it anywhere else for the price. What do you think of this one instead: Yamaha RX-V473 5.1 Channel Network AV Receiver Reconditioned Thanks again.

I own a 1612 which is the same as 1613 except no airplay and I like it for an inexpensive avr..
