Well, I need a projector to finish my media room project. 1080P projector is too expensive to me. So I focus on 720p projector. After some research, my choices are Mitsubish HC1600 ($630 at amazon) or Optoma HD65( $770 @ amazon).

My environment is:

Will put projector on the ceiling. The distance from screen to projector is around 13-14 feet. The screen is 92 inch or 130 inch. ( I haven't insalled it yet). No window in the media room

HC1600,

It seems rainbow effect is the biggest cons. But it was said ' only some sensitive person can see the rainbow'.

Can save $140

It seems Price drops more quickly than HD65

HD65

Need to pay $140 more
Heard it's not good for ceiling installation
Noisy than HC1600

Please help me to choose one!

Thanks

Is this for home theater or business?

It's for my home.
Go to the store and check out the non LED DLP tv's. If they still have an older DLP tv that will work wonders.

If you have the problem you will notice straight away.

I like the HD65 between the 2. Higher contrast ratio, longer warranty, accepts 1080p signals. variable iris, 12v triger. It's only draw back is you will have less flexibility with placement. But not so much that it really matter to me.

I'd go with the optoma based on the longer warranty alone.

I would avoid both. The HC1600 is notorious for RBE, and the HD65 is built like crap, plastic lens, with high noise and lots of heat.

Try looking for the Sharp 510, or used Planar 720p.

Thank you all. Finally I decide to go for HC1600. That DLP TV one really helps.
And the reason I have to give up HD65 is it's almost fixed-lense. And my screen wall has a recline angel in the top part which means my screen is at least 28" below the ceiling. After measurement, if I install HD65, it will look ugly since the pole will be too long.

Thank again
