I am looking for a sub in the $500-600 range, 60% HT - 40% Music. Living room is about 1587 cu ft but opens up to the dining room and kitchen (4000+ cu ft total space I believe). A sub that can go low, have good tactile energy and be musical to a good degree would sum up to what im looking for. I figured ported would be the way to go and have narrowed it down to these subs below based on what I have read -

Rythmik FV12
Hsu VTF2-MK3
Outlaw LFM1-plus

I have been going back and forth with this decision for the past 2 weeks. I initially purchased an Outlaw LFM-1 plus off Ebay with the hopes that it would complete my HT setup Well unfortunately, the shipper did a horrible job packing the sub and once it got to me the sub had scuffs, finish was badly chipped, and most importantly did not work! Needless to say, I filed a claim with UPS and here i am looking for suggestions :D

Have you seen any reviews of the FV12? I haven't seen many reviews of the Rythmik subs without the aluminum woofer.

I haven't been able to find any professional reviews on the FV12. Just user comments in various forums. I know Rythmik subs are typically high quality, but being an "entry" level sub in their lineup - I don't know how that would stack up to the other subs I mentioned.

Any of those subs would perform great for the money. Perhaps you can choose which sub you could easily integrate into the room. Each sub mentioned has a different form factor which could affect placement options in your room:

Rythmic FV12: Front Driver, Front Port

HSU VTF-2 Mk3: Down Firing Driver, Rear Ports

Outlaw LFM1 Plus: Down Firing Driver, Downward Ports

I guess you missed where he pulled the trigger. :p

In light of some stuff I read recently I think the OP may have himself a wiener in the Rythmik. ;)
