Looking at getting a new sub and I am choosing between these 4:

* Martin Logan Dynamo 700

* Emotiva Ultra10

* PA-120

* B I C F12

I did get to listen to the Dynamo 700 about a week ago and it’s on sale at my local hifi store for $399. Nice sub. :)

~ Now for the price it probably be ideal to get the Dynamo700, but I want to make sure I get a sub that get more $$$ for it’s performance.
Has anyone here got to hear 2, 3 or 4 out of these 4 and could tell me which you are in favor for?

As for the other 3 subs, I have not heard them. So that is why I am here asking ;)

My budget is $400.00 max!

Thanks all,

How big is your room and what's the main usage for sub - music or movies?

I honestly do both. So I am going to say 60% for movies and games and 40% for music.

As for the living room size: From front wall to back wall about 18' (which is my viewing / listening area) (its a rectangle room).

Listening area is 12' away from my towers and tv. The length (open area) of the total room size which is not my listening area is over 44' long.

My listening area is ( wall to wall) is about 14'x14'.

Dynamo 700 is a respectable Musical sub for small to medium room, however in your space - 18x44 - is huge and this little Dynamo will be lost in. Your listening area is not important for sub, it "sees" entire open space - it will try (and fail) to pressurize it.

Imo you need, something much stronger, but i'll be nearly impossible on $400 budget.
My only rec for your space is eD A2 - 300 - It's $415 with Free shipping. You'll get much more sub out of it than any of your selections.

Step up: Epic Legend.
http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html - At $500 it's a steal.

I'd highly rec for you start looking craiglist/audiogon for 2nd subs.

I total hear that! ;)
I am aware of room size and how the waves will go all over.
My last sub was the AA HD12 and it was ok at most for this area.

The specs I gave you for my listening space was going to be permanent, but to find out, we're not going to purchase this home.

We decided to buy custom and I am looking @ getting one of our rooms to be the HT room and roughly the size will be 14'x15' or so (closed in).

So with that being said, which do you think now would be a good choice sub out of the ones I mentioned?
Thanks

I agree that for $400 you can get something used that should do the job very well.

Outlaw has a sale going on their LFM-1 Plus. $467 shipped. It's a bit over budget but again that includes shipping.

Hey all - I made my decision and decided to keep the funds supporting in my community and feed the people of the city I live in, so I got the Dynamo700 ;)

I have been running it for about 4-hrs now. It is not positioned in a corner and the sub position is firing downwards.

I have the amp @ 60%, LFE active and just for kicks I had to crank it! :)
While playing BR of GI JOE, all I have to say is this sub SLAMS!! Way more then I expected and this sub would eat my old AA HD12 alive. Glad I got it. It was a hard decision, but the other three subs would still have been good choices (I am sure). I do plan to buy another ML in the near future. This sub does fill the room more then I expected!! A++

Congrats on new sub. $700 msrp to $400 paid = not bad deal at all....
I recon eD a2-300 I mention above would blow your mind, but hey I know all about IG - My manager at work has serious IG issue :p

I read that the A2-300 is not as musical a sub but for the OP, he needed something to sound more musical. Sure, it won't have the output of the A2-300, but if he's going to get another sub in the future, he may just be in LFE bliss. The only issue is that it doesn't dig that deep, but the two combined should sound very nice with music.

Not sure of your AVR settings, but 60% seems high for the amp to be set at. The nice thing about your deal on the price is you should be able to sell the sub close to what you paid for it when you decide to step up.:) Enjoy the new toy
