I'm in the market to buy a new receiver,
that is decent for low entry level setup. i have Hsu Research speakers up front including a Hsu Vtf 3 mk4 subwoofer / JBL ES20 as surrounds

Since these speakers are rated 92DB i'm guessing any av receiver would work. I have narrowed down to two brand yamaha and Onkyo. What's the best receiver for $300? maybe $399. I know the budget seems low but i'm tight on cash right now.

I heard denon makes great AVR Receiver. I had pioneer before, great products but two of my pioneer just dies on me for no reason, one of them won't power on,and the second one has some sort of Squelch noise. So i'm trying to stay away from pioneer as much possible uh

only Audyssey 2EQ :(
I think my sunken Onkyo 707 2EQ too and it setup everything nice, although I tweaked it a little to my liking, like most people do. :) BTW I had those JBL 20's and they were great in cherry too, sunken as well.:(

The latest is XT32. I would not worry. I was fine with 2EQ with Onkyo. If you need airplay, then go with the Denon linked.

You can find a Denon with MultEQ XT in that price range; that'd be my pick.

yes, and that is what I rec'd above:

2EQ is ok..., but XT is SO MUCH better. from only 2 mic position to 8 and higher precision too. only thing that model is missing is pre-amp outs, but it's too much to ask for at this price even refub
This one will have both, but it more expensive:

Only 5.1 though, still good deal.
I guess they have to cut cost somehow. Audyssey XT Dynamic EQ in itself probably costs a few, but well worth it IMO.

Audyssey XT Dynamic EQ has done wonders for the bass quality in my HT system.

Besides, I only use 5.1.

Pioneer VSX-823-K 5.1 Home Theater Receiver 250-636 is really a good choice for you.
