Ok audioholics. I finally convinced my wife to let me buy a new receiver but now which one? I would like to spend about $1000-$1500 but if I need to will go higher. I need to drive a fair bit. I have all 3 game systems (PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii), satalite dish (and will likely get a 2nd HD dish), regular digital cable, DVD player and the good old fashion VCR (for the kids movies). I thought of the Sony DA5300, but at the list of $1,800 thought i should do some homework first. I appreciate everyones opion.

Another one to look at is the Yamaha RX-V3800. It can be found for around $1,300. I have the predecessor, the 2700, and I could not be happier.

I know Denon is well liked here, and I love my 3808CI for the audio quality. However, their HDCP implementation is lousy! My XBOX 360 Elite and my Oppo DV 980 both flicker. The Oppo much less so than the XBOX, but the XBOX flickering is unbearable. I've installed every firmware update from Denon, but no luck. When I told them my Oppo flickers too, the rep just down played it as Korean trash.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the HDCP handshake issues, I would recommend the Denon instantly, but until this problem is fixed I would look elsewhere.
